Task force constituted for KM Initiative at National Level

The ambitious approach behind establishment of WESNet was to promulgate the knowledge in the water and sanitation sector. It was the first kind of initiative taken in NWFP and subsequently replicated in other three provinces of the country.

The current scenario of our country highlighted the need for such network at federal level on November 15, 2006 at Best Western Hotel, Islamabad. It was generally observed in the context of recent tragic earthquake and the experiences sought from devolution of WES sector to tehsil tier of local government, that knowledge sharing and facilitating sectoral coordination is the earnest need of the day.

In order to assessing the all available provincial and potential opportunities that a knowledge management organization can offer at a national level, WSP-SA, IRC and WESNet organized a Roundtable discussion on the need of a National Coordination Mechanism in Water, Environment and Sanitation sector for Pakistan.
