Earthquake Pakistan

Pakistan experienced the first ever sorrowful incident of the history in the shape of an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 on Richter scale on Saturday October 08, 2005 at about 08:55 a.m. The substantial magnitude of earthquake jerked the entire region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and North West Frontier Province (NWFP) causing whole spread devastation and deaths in the area.

Keeping its mandate of coordination in view, WESNet is proud to serve as an epic center for all the coordination activities among the government, national and international NGOs, International assistance and relief organizations, public sector projects, UN agencies and elected representatives. WESNet in collaboration with UNICEF, has organized 46 sector coordination meetings so far. These meetings generally comprise an overview of the activities of the organizations busy in rehabilitation process and are a useful source for sharing and dissemination of information to enhance working capacities and to avoid duplication.
